Bram Stoker’s Dracula
This is one of my favourite films ever. A dark and beautiful love story with the classic vampire before Twilight came and pissed on everything!
The overall work gone into the costume design was beautiful, and a certian red dress always reminds me of my best mate ;-) Hands down to the makeup effects team, as Gary Oldman various transformtions throught the film were and always will be incredible!!!
It has alot of critasism over casting, esspecially Keanua Reeves voice in it but hell, i enjoyed the fact he didnt sound posh English he sounds old English ! Gary Oldman plays an outstanding performance as Dracula and has some fantastic cast along side him (Antony Hopkins, Winona Ryder) I love all the familiar faces featured in the film also such as Cary Elwes, Richard Grant and LOVEEEEEEE the fact Tom waits stars in the film as Renfield!!! I recently learned at university about some of the tricks they pull which you would initial assume was CGI which made me love the production of this film even more!
This is THE vampire film to watch at Halloween, always gets me, and being the first proper vampire film I ever saw… it holds a very close place in my heart.

Screaming Skull
This film had the perfect opening to sum up old movies, with a warning to viewers about the risk of being scared to death! This film reminded me a little of House on Haunted Hill where is was horror, ghost and almost murder mystery! It had a classic story line, resulting in madness and death. It was an OKAY film but thats about it

Alien
Stunned my friends by telling them I hadnt seen this before!! And oh my was it worth the wait!!! The H.R. Giger design of the whole film was incredible, so much attention to detail which is so iconic in the scifi films you see today! The famous stomach scene completely lived up to expectations I love the fact no one was told what was going to happen prior to the scene so it was really interesting to see such fantastic actors show real reactions and not actually have to act; made it much more intense!! The seen in the tunnels and fire was another one which made me jump!!! Really enjoyed this film, and yet I couldnt help but smile at the fact Sigourney Weaver, saved the cat

The Poltergeist
Now for a Ghost type film!!! Had never seen this the whole way through so decided to watch it whilst doing some painting! The film was really well paced and had a really ace classic story line! The lady who “cleaned” the house made me giggle (south park reference) and it was nice to have a little girl actress who wasnt actually annoying :D Loved the sfx mirror scene and for once jumped a film made me jump, i knew the clown was coming but turning the lights off and closing the curtains didnt help ;-) Like a few other films it had the ‘we think its over, oh wait it isnt’ moment but it didnt last too long which made the end very climatic! Loved the effect on the house/the Poltergeist at the end, all in all Really enjoyed watching this film!!!!
P.S LOVED the extra bit at the end with the tv ;-)

Hocus Pocus:
Total childhood classic in my household! Traditionally we would all watch it the week of Halloween or on Halloween night!!! Was really in the mood to watch something a bit fun as i was still a little sore after the dentist!! Some brilliant characters, trick’o’treating, witches and a random musical number make this a perfect family favourite! Plus Billy the zombie adds a nice sfx make up touch to the movie!!
